In a thrilling conclusion to the regular season, the Spartanburg Flames baseball team captured their first-ever division championship with a dramatic 8-4 walk-off victory over the rival Thunder Hawks. Senior captain Jake Morrison delivered the game-winning grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning, sending the home crowd into a frenzy.

The Flames entered the ninth inning trailing 4-3, but quickly loaded the bases with two outs after a series of walks and a hit-by-pitch. Morrison stepped to the plate with the season on the line and worked the count to 3-2 before launching a towering drive over the left field wall.

“I’ve dreamed of a moment like this my entire life,” Morrison said through tears of joy. “To do it for this team, this community, in front of our home fans – it doesn’t get any better than this.”

Head Coach Tommy Martinez praised his team’s resilience throughout the season. “This group never gave up, no matter what the situation. They believed in each other and trusted the process we’ve been building for four years.”

The division championship advances the Flames directly to the regional tournament, where they’ll face the winner of the Eastern Division. The celebration continued late into the night as fans, players, and families savored this historic achievement.

“This is just the beginning,” Morrison declared. “We have our sights set on the state championship now.”
