Annual Flames Athletic Fundraiser Exceeds Goals

The Spartanburg Flames Athletic Program’s annual fundraiser has achieved remarkable success, raising over $75,000 to support student-athletes across all sports programs. The campaign, which ran for six weeks, exceeded its initial goal of $50,000 by 50%, demonstrating the strong community support for Flames athletics.

Athletic Director John Smith expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming response. “The generosity of our community has been absolutely incredible. This funding will allow us to enhance facilities, purchase new equipment, and provide additional opportunities for our student-athletes to excel both on and off the field.”

The fundraiser featured various initiatives including online campaigns, community events, and direct outreach to alumni and local businesses. The highlight was the “Flames Family Fun Day” held at the school’s athletic complex, which alone raised over $15,000 through activities, food sales, and silent auctions.

“What made this campaign special was the involvement of our student-athletes,” noted Development Coordinator Lisa Rodriguez. “They took ownership of the fundraising efforts, organizing car washes, bake sales, and community service projects that really resonated with supporters.”

Several major donors stepped forward to support the cause, including Spartanburg Business Partners who contributed $10,000, and the Flames Alumni Association which donated $8,500. Local businesses also showed strong support through sponsorships and in-kind donations.

The funds will be allocated across multiple areas: 40% for facility improvements including new gymnasium flooring and track resurfacing, 30% for equipment upgrades across all sports, 20% for student-athlete scholarships, and 10% for coaching development programs.

“This success reflects the values of our community and their belief in the positive impact of athletics on young people’s lives,” Smith concluded. “We’re excited to put these resources to work for our student-athletes.”
