The Spartanburg Flames soccer team extended their remarkable undefeated streak to 15 games with a commanding 3-0 victory over the visiting Storm United on Saturday afternoon. The win keeps the Flames perfect in conference play and positions them as the clear favorites for the upcoming tournament.

Senior midfielder Sofia Martinez opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a brilliant curling shot from outside the penalty area. The goal came off a perfectly weighted pass from junior playmaker Alex Chen, who has been instrumental in the team’s attacking success this season.

“Our chemistry on the field has never been better,” Martinez explained. “We’re playing as a unit, and everyone knows their role perfectly. Coach has prepared us for every possible situation.”

The Flames doubled their lead just before halftime when freshman sensation Maria Lopez converted a penalty kick after being fouled in the box. Lopez, who joined the team this season, has already scored 12 goals and provided 8 assists.

Head Coach Carlos Mendez credited the team’s success to their dedication during the off-season. “These players put in countless hours of training during the summer. They’ve earned every bit of this success through hard work and commitment.”

The third goal came in the 72nd minute when substitute forward Tommy Kim scored on his first touch after coming off the bench. The goal epitomized the team’s depth and quality throughout the roster.

With three games remaining in the regular season, the Flames are on track to complete their first perfect regular season in program history.
